Understanding Why we Think The Worst

At some point in our lives, most of us suffer from one or more of the following: depression, anxiety, stress, drink or drug abuse, self-harming, weight problems, relationship difficulties, and many other mental and physical ailments.

Our unhappy mindset brings out our negative emotions such as sadness, fear, anger, and disgust. These negative emotions evoke reactions frustration, a short temper, aggression, violence,  hatred, and detachment from society. The outcome is tiredness, tension, lethargy, lack of self-belief, no light at the end of the tunnel, and potential loss of our friends, family, work, and reality.

We only focus on the negative, feeling sorry for ourselves, and blaming situations for putting us in this state. All sense of purpose and logical reasoning has gone.

Changing the Way We Think and Feel

Let's suppose that we can go on a journey taking us to happiness and fulfilment. This journey leaves behind our demons and leads us to a rich, awakened life of positivity, energy and fun. Along the way, we discover awareness of our surroundings, family and friends, and our true selves. Let's go one better, we want to understand and enjoy what we learn along the way. We are not going to try to sprint a marathon, but we are going to learn simple steps to reach our realistic goals. We are not going to spend the whole journey studying everything about each destination we visit,  but we are going to learn to appreciate its beauty and uniqueness. Imagine taking time out every day to feel gratitude to life and being alive. being confident and relaxed and feeling well and happy. Imagine in great detail the way you would like your life to be, the places you want to go, and the people you want to be with. Suppose that this life is possible to achieve and there are ways that you can achieve it. Have a very clear vision of what you want in your life.

Positive Changes We Have Made

Let's look at the changes we have made: firstly we asked questions as to whether we could have better solutions to our problems rather than subconsciously dealing with them. We looked at our core beliefs and queried the logic behind them.  Then we learned how to adjust our actions to give us the required results, followed by deciding to take positive action to achieve our desired outcomes. We put these actions into practice by learning to think and act in a positive, realistic way, evaluating the results of our new actions, whilst continuing to try to find the right positive solutions, and praise ourselves for our successes. We discovered that we were gaining satisfaction from our achievements, giving us renewed energy levels, and considerably more enjoyment in our lives. The reaction of this progression showed us how to value what we have and gave us a love of life, new-found inspiration, a sense of freedom, and much-increased self-esteem. We gained worth, personal insight, and learned the value of being true to ourselves and others, allowing us to live in harmony with ourselves, others, and nature. We have learned techniques allowing ourselves to relax, stay calm, and be in control, single focus on our challenges, to communicate pleasantly with others, gain new friendships, and be assertive. The really pleasing fact of all the skills we have learned, and positive adjustments we have made is that it was simple to learn, easy to implement, and gave us a huge feeling of self-worth. We have learned lessons, and achieved solutions that we didn't think we were capable of. It is this journey that has given us an inner warmth and happiness.
